This mob, sent by the local Republican and Libertarian parties, did not come just to be heard, but to deny others the right to be heard. And this appears to be part of a coordinated, nationwide effort. What could be more appropriate for the "party of no" than having its stalwarts drowning out the voices of their neighbors by screaming "just say no!" Their fanatical insistence on repealing Social Security and Medicare is not just about halting health care reform but rolling back 75 years of progress. I am more committed than ever to win approval of legislation to offer more individual choice to access affordable health care. An effective public plan is essential to achieve that goal.

1) I attended the 'town hall' meeting, but was disappointed with the location and lack of response by Doggett. I've voted for Doggett since the mid-80's but after this meeting, I can't honestly do that anymore. Who schedules a meeting like this in a parking lot during business hours? The crowd was loud, but Doggett had no p/a system either. When asked specific questions about healthcare, he merely regurgitated the standard white house lines. I wanted specifics. I resent him classifying myself and fellow neighbors as rebublican and libertarian plants. My group have been life long democrats, generous contributors and regular volunteers. When the heat gets turned up, he freezes and can't answer a simple question and blames it on the opposition. That is a sign of weakness and unprofesionalism. Doggett, you've lost my vote.

3) This is exactly how the Dems lost power last time. They went way too far wacko left. They are stirring up people in the middle who usually don't get involved in politics. Adios, Doggett.

4) Rep. Doggett criticizes the protesters for being "organized"? Hmmm, how his memory has dimmed (or Dem-d). He apparently has forgotten the organized protests that he joined in to protest the Viet Nam war in the late '60s and early '70s, even as his predecessor in Congress voted with LBJ to continue funding the war.

Why were those organized protests okay and today's are not?

5) Talk about spinning a story to make it work for you. Doggett just doesn't get it. This goes way beyond any political party affiliation. Saying he's more determined than ever to support this bill is some kind of twisted version of political suicide. That's O.K., though. He and his compadres will finally understand come the next election when their days in DC come to a screeching halt.

6) I was there by circumstance. I talked with an aide of Rep Doggett and was informed that he had read all of the bill and had already voted for it in Committee. The crowd was loud, but not a mob. We all need to read this bill and understand what it means to us, the insurance industry and the Treasury.
