Petraeus Testimony: Protester Interruption Scorecard

General David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker are testifying today before the Senate Armed Services Committee.

While watching the testimony, we are keeping track of the number of interruptions by protesters.

Here is a scorecard of sorts:

9:03 (Central Time) One... (Indecipherable... protester(s) remained, but give 'em credit, they drew a response from Committee Carl M. Levin (D-MI). Good opener: C+.) (Time was estimated.)
9:43 (Central Time): Two... ("Bring them home. Bring them home." Protester carried out. Good, solid effort. Deeply meaningful chanting. Solid performance: B.)

Update: Gen. Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker are now testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

16:04 (Central Time): Three ... (More interruptions by what appeared to be Code Pink supporters. Not too loud, one woman was dressed in black with pink "$ for peace" sign escorted out. Another protester with pink-painted hand -- escorted out. Another heckler was admonished by Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) to "cool down," but not escorted out. 2 out of 3, not bad: B-.)

Similar to how Liberals cannot support Free Speech for conservatives on campus--Liberal senators cannot support free speech for the Commander of US Forces in Iraq while they pontificate to his face.

Knocking on a man who is charged with keeping the men and women of the military safe is not the best move. i am sure, that he would love to bring them home now. however, you can't leave until things are stable.

I can top that! (I did go to an east coast school, y'know).

Hampshire College in Massachusetts, Alma Mater to respectable types though I'm too lazy to look them up right now, allows students to design their own major. This type of system is susceptible to abuse, don'tcha know, as is illustrated most famously by the Hampshire college student who majored in... Wait for it... Evil.
It's been years, and that's still my most favorite story about Hampshire college. Whenever I get depressed about my education or job experience, I like to imagine his job interviews.

Huh... Not sure how that happened. I was sure when I commented it was on the article about the "social responsibility" college degree. You've got my apologies for tacking my goofy story about Hampshire college onto the end of a serious issue.
