For reading their books for audiotape release, apparently.
From UPI:
Former U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter and presidential hopeful Barack Obama have been nominated for Grammy Awards.
The three will face off in the best spoken word album category.
Obama was nominated for "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream," while Clinton got the nod for "Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World" and Carter made the short list for "Sunday Mornings in Plains: Bringing Peace to a Changing World."
The Hollywood Reporter notes that
all three have won Grammy's before:
Clinton won best spoken word Grammys in 2004 and 2005, and his wife, 2008 [presidential] hopeful Hillary Clinton, won the category in 1997 for "It Takes a Village."
Obama won this Grammy in 2006 for "Dreams From My Father," while Carter took home the award last year for "Our Endangered Values: America's Moral Crisis."
Politics played no part, of course.
