Yup. We were so traumatized by those Disney horror films that our brains can't comprehend liberal thinking. What next; Al Bore winning...... oh, wait. Sorry.
I've heard that many five-year-olds found the death of Bambi's mother to be quite traumatic. So maybe the journalists at Time have an emotional age of about five.
Best Animaniacs episode ever (a 2-fer):
Slappy Squirrel takes her nephew Skippy to see the film 'Bumbi.' Things seem to be going well, until the film gets to the part where Bumbi's Mom is killed. Slappy tries to calm Skippy down, but the little squirrel is traumatized. In desperation, Slappy takes Skippy to meet the actress who played Bumbi's Mom. Seeing that she's alright, Skippy finds closure...that is, until he watches the in-flight movie on the way home, which happens to be 'Old Yellow.'

I call BS on the list anyway -- Time left off The House of Wax, which I saw as at age 7 or 8 in 3-D. It scared the crap out of me and I didn't sleep for weeks.
I saw Psycho in my early teens when a bunch of us hitch-hiked to the drive-in, sneaked in by climbing the fence, and watched the movie sitting on the ground under the screen in the kiddy playground. After the movie, we had to walk home...that gave the movie extra impact.

Maybe the movies are rated in terms of how scary they seem to a child under 10 years of age? In which case, "Killer Clowns from Outer Space" needs to be on the list. That movie traumatized me when I was 9 and saw it on afternoon TV.
When I saw it again, a decade later, I felt like a complete wuss. And a moron. Death by acid pies-to-the-face? How was I scared of that?

Bambi was a very affecting movie -- I have never been in a movie theater showing it where little children haven't cried out at when . . . well, you know. But horror movie, no. What's happening to the English language?
