ABC News Matthew Jaffe reports that leading Democrats are already trying to discredit Gen. David Petraeus' report on Iraq -- before it comes out.
Jaffe reports the predictable comments made by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who accuses Gen. Petraeus of dishonesty, and his number two man in the Senate, Illinois Senator Dick Durbin, who echoes the same theme, but perhaps the most galling comments were made by
Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL):
"Instead of a new strategy for Iraq, the Bush administration is cherry-picking the data to support their political objectives and preparing a report that will offer another defense of the president's strategy," said Emanuel, the House Democratic Caucus Chair. "We don't need a report that wins the Nobel Prize for creative statistics or the Pulitzer for fiction."
Is there anything more amusing in American politics than a Chicago Democrat accusing others of corruption, lying, blatant misrepresentation, or distortion of facts?
It's pretty breath taking, and shows just what people like Rep. Emanuel think of the intelligence of their supporters.
