It's not only an ugly sentiment, it's poorly composed. The second line should read "but I'm still an". Pretty good for a monkey, though.
You asked "I've always wondered why someone has never simply attacked Fred Phelps when he showed up at an AIDS victim's, or a dead soldier's funeral picketing. "
The answer is that that's how Phelps gets his money--suing people who respond to his incitements.
Let it be. Let those who want hatred of political opponents to be "coin of the realm" get what they want. But there will be no tears later. When the mob has turned against you, there will be no tears.
So is this shirt worse than those "Rope, Tree, Liberal. Some assembly required" T-shirts that are for sale on some conservative websites?
I mean one shirt is calling someone an A-hole, while the other is advocating lynching. Do the bad words automatically make it more uncouth?
That T-shirt is also awful -- but what do you think about this tidbit from the site hawking the T-shirt?
"This shirt will let everyone finally have a good chuckle about the White House spokes liar’s probable fatal cancer."
The mentality that relishes Mr. Snow's cancer, and produces this sort of shirt is exactly why some people feel that:
"Rope, Tree, Liberal, Some assembly required!" is necessary! In fact overdue.
That logic's cyclical... Actually no, more of a downward spirial. You get into a situation where each side's trying to out-horrible the other.
Flounder, this is in front of me in the parking lot every day, on the Subaru of a social worker; one of those kind, giving, compassionate people.

Not to defend the other - but yes, its a lot worse to wish death on someone who may be facing it than a stupid, abstract expression of hatred.
Myself, I wish cancer on no one.
However, I want people to pay attention to this kind of blind hatred, and note well what happens when a bunch of immature children take over a large portion of a political party...
I went there and went to within the final step of purchase. It's not a gag.... talk about plumbing the depths of depraved thought.
Is there an intellectual wing within the American Left anymore? The only enlightened output I have been seeing are defecation, immolation, property destruction, spitting, and the mockery of the terminally ill.
I'm just really, really depressed right now. The guy has daughters, and I can't imagine one of them having to see this. If you can't have any mercy, at least have some compassion.
www.whitehouse.gov has "send well-wishes to Tony" at the top of their page, and I'd encourage anybody to do it. Not to apologize for the actions of others, but just because it's a decent thing to do.
Good going, dickweed.
Y'know what, if you want to try and win some elections, or at least appear good, you would stop idiotic tactics like this, because it's only going to get people mad on you. Some advice. 1: Grow up. This isn't highschool, this is life. 2: Stop being a dick. Things are so much nicer when others can talk polietly. I'm willing to do it, so long as you shape up. 3: Maybe offer some moral support? You may disagree with the guy, but that doesn't meant that you have to wish him death. People would like you more, and you'd contribute a lot more to the cleaniless of a liberal image. As it is, you're only damaging your own people with this.
Thanks! Always looking for excrement like this to use as "you voted for the same people this guy admires" greetings to send to my Dem friends!
Have been to a number of funerals with Westboro Baptist Church (the Fred Phelps loons) have picketed, I can tell you that it's much more satifying to see everyone who rides by the Phelpsies turn their heads away in unison.
What those loons want is attention. What could be more annoying to them than to have everyone deliberately ignore them? Besides, Karma's a bitch even it you don't believe in it.
How many times has the right mocked Rachel Corrie for her temerity in being murdered by Israel? A million times? That was murder. Here, at least the laugh's on a guy whose hatred caused his own cancer.
I hope to God we are near a breaking point. I am looking forward to making these demons beg for their lives (hopefully on Webcam, so their cowardice will be seen by all)---and then splattering their brains anyway.
OK, so I'm "extreme." But even for those of you who aren't looking to coward-hunts: sooner or later you're going to have to DEFEND our women, who the radical Left targets for rape. THIS IS OUR DUTY AS MEN.
Man, you all are taking this WAAYYY too seriously. Have you ever watched an episode of South Park (episode tonight of a Nuke in Hillary's vagina) or ever watched an O'Reilly episode - Both are WAAYYY more offensive than a simple shirt with a funny pun.
Yeah, you're right, the satire of South Park and whatever disagreement you have with O'Reilly are equivalent to this statement on the Web site:
"This shirt will let everyone finally have a good chuckle about the White House spokes liar’s probable fatal cancer." What could I have been thinking?
One thought she could stop a bulldozer that was destroying a tunnel being used to smuggle weapons to terrorists; the other is a member of a presidential administration you don't like who's just received a grim medical diagnosis. Yep, same thing.
"Is there an intellectual wing within the American Left anymore?"
The left almost universally considers itself to be intellectual and the right to be unreflective. It is this fundamental arrogance which I think makes liberals so unreasonable: why would one walk the difficult road to the palace of wisdom when one believes oneself already there? |
