Earlier today, Andrew Sullivan linked to
a post purported to have been written by Michael Barone.
It turns out that the post was bogus and wasn't written by Barone,
as Sullivan now acknowledges.
I was suspicious as soon as I couldn't find the post on the homepage of
Barone Blog, so I contacted Barone, who was kind enough to e-mail me back to say that he did not author the post.
Hackers...
Update: As Barone notes in another e-mail to me, Sullivan did more than acknowledge the hacking, he took the the initiative to contact Barone himself to check on the post's authenticity.
Update II: It now appears that this was the result of an internal error, according to US News' tech people, writes Barone in an e-mail to
The New Editor.
It's good to hear that this wasn't a malicious act.
Update III: Here's
Barone himself on the confusion that resulted when
a post by US News' Bonnie Erbe was mistakenly added to Barone's blog.
