Ugggh, this idiot is in the majority party?? Save the country from this total fool. I guess this guy is the reason we put warning on bathmats that state "This bathmat is not for human consumption". Oregon should hang its head in shame. Who is rep. Wu, he is not smarter than your shoe, that is who.
It is encouraging to see the neocons, soon to be just cons, so outraged at this slight from the left. Anything to take attention away from this turd of an administration circling the bowl. I am surprised that they would take time from the gay/immigrant/Muslim bashing agenda to address this travesty.
Methinks you confuse my laughter with outrage.
But then again, look who I'm talking to, a person seeming to be of a political persuasion that specializes in outrage. Punch 10...
So this guys is comparing the Bush administration to Vulcans and Klingons, but not the "real" Vulcans and Klingons. And he has the cojones to complain that the administration hasn't been listening to guys like him? What's his favorite documentary? Dumb and Dumber?
Oh no! Someone made a pop-culture reference in congress! He's an idiot!
Wu didn't 'make a pop culture reference'. He based his whole speech on a ridiculous and trivial premise. The point made by the blog owner was that this sort of thing is why Congress is not taken seriously.
Does Nancy Pelosi remind anyone else of a Cardassian?

Well I think it is an interesting way of expressing what is clearly a big problem. So maybe it's a little weird, but it's probably the most interesting footage that has been on c-span in a while.
All questions of Klingons and Vulcans aside, this guy didn't construct a coherent argument. He makes an analogy, then abandons his analogy for a series of new and more confusing analogies. Forget about whether the analogy was appropriate-- I couldn't even follow it.
From Wikipedia's comments on "The Vulcans":
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Vulcans The group called itself the Vulcans in honour of the huge statue of the Roman god of fire and metalworking in Rice’s home town of Birmingham, Alabama.
Ah, the chickenhawk argument. It's odd how a group of people who go around stating that their opponents SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO EXPRESS THEIR OPINIONS are called "Democrats". Plus, this guy looks like Sulu. There, said it.
This guy must be a Cardassian. To him I say, "Hab SoSII' Quch!" [Your mother has a smooth forehead]
Perhaps he would prefer the strength and certainty of General Zod:
"Hear me now! There is now one law, one order, one ruler who alone will determine your collective destiny! Kneel before me! From this day forward - there is only Zod!" http://www.zod2008.com/
Of course he can detect a Klingon, all tribbles have that skill. I'm not sure how expensive it will be to change over the iconography, from the donkey, but it is long overdue.
Democrats: Tribble and Proud!
He is referring to Pres. Bush's advisers, who call themselves the Vulcans after that statue in Birmingham. If you know this, the speech makes a lot more sense.
Rep. Wu., Red Shirt Security for the Next Best Generation.
Now, if he'd referred to them as Daleks, I might have taken him SERIOUSLY.
I'm sorry, but the Bush administration are nowhere near as cool as the Daleks.
No, it's not that Congress isn't taken seriously because of this.
Congress isn't taken seriously because for the last six years it hasn't done anything about the criminals within its own ranks and in the White House. And I'm an old-school, tough-on-crime Republican from North Carolina saying that, so don't even try taking your beer and your guns down Partisan Road. Meanwhile, if you want real "Star Trek" fun, go here: http://maruthecrankpot.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_maruthecrankpot_archive.html#116873039966544345. The coding isn't precise, so you might have to scroll up or down just a little, but you'll know it when you see it.
Anybody remember the crucifying VP Dan Quayle got when he did a poor job using the Murphy Brown character in an analogy about family values? The MSM just vilified him.
Isn't this a more rediculous analogy?
Actually it was a pop culture reference used as a metaphor. And as we all know, a metaphor is a thing you shout through.
Whoops, forgot the name line. That ought to be Kay Shapero, not anonymous. Oh well.
