The generic ballot question -- which party will you vote for in congressional contests -- has shrunk significantly in two major polls.
The Pew Research Center poll that had the generic question favoring the Dems by 11 points two weeks ago is now down to
four points, while the Washington Post/ABC poll, which had the generic question favoring the Dems by 13 points two weeks ago, now has the Dems' lead down to
six points.
In 1994, when the Repubs took 54 seats on their way to their first House majority in 40 years, the Washington Post/ABC generic question favored the Dems by about four points.
Just so you know.
Update:
Gallup's latest generic ballot is out, and the Dems are up on the Repubs by seven points; two weeks ago it was a 13-point Dem advantage; and one month ago it was 23.
