In response to a question about C-Span CEO Brian Lamb's request to televise the final negotiations on the health-care reform bill, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said, "There has never been a more open process for any legislation in our experience."
Back in February 2009, amid allegations that copies of the 'economic stimulus' bill were given to lobbyists before the Republican leadership actually received them, and the assertion by Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) that 'no senator will have the chance to read the entire bill,' Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) called the bill "the most transparent piece of legislation in American history."
Likewise, Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) called the stimulus bill "the most vetted bill in history," and 'the most transparent piece of legislation in history.'
The February 2009 talking points and the January 2010 talking points appear interchangeable.
