The
New York Time's Cyrus Sanati reports that Michael Moore's latest 'documentary' --
Capitalism: A Love Story "which railed against Wall Street greed and the upper class, did draw a large number of women in Chanel dresses and men with Rolex watches -- a group that appeared conspicuously, well, upper class."
The
Times' Sanati also writes:
Mr. Moore's unwavering support for the Democratic Party seemed to be the common thread in the room, as his attacks on Republicans were met with cheers by the audience. But Mr. Moore's film also lashed out against several Democratic politicians for their role in the crisis, including Christopher Dodd of Connecticut, who leads the Senate Finance Committee. Those criticisms were followed with uncomfortable silence broken by a few audible gasps.
Sanati also noted that not many 'Hollywood types' attended the premiere, though he noted that Rahm Emanuel's brother Ari, Moore's agent for
Fahrenheit 911 (and presumably
Capitalism too), attended the Los Angeles debut.
Update: Needless to say, Michael Moore is a millionaire.
Rep. Kaptur's (D-OH) financial disclosure statement pegs her net worth at between $155,000-$510,000 (pdf file); she also owns three homes in Toledo, OH. Mario Batali is a famous television chef who owns a number of successful restaurants.
